Wei Lijun Visited Fire Training Facilities of TEEX

Vice President Dr. Wei Lijun visited Emergency Service Training Institute (ESTI) of Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) accompanied by Chen Sining and Chu Yun between 19th and 23rd, November 2017, as designated by State Administration of Work Safety.

TEEX is a state agency of Texas, U.S.A. that offers training programs and technical assistance to public safety workers, both in Texas and around the world. By 2013, its budget had grown to $76.4 million, and had reached some 183,750 students through over 2.84 million contact hours.

Dr. Wei paid special visit to Brayton Fire Training Field and Disaster City, as planned. Brayton Fire Training Field is a 1.20 km2 live-fueled firefighter training facility, which is also the largest in the United States. The facility has 132 training stations and 22 fueled live-fire props, including full-scale buildings, tanks, and a ship, that enable trainees to experience lifelike simulations. The Disaster City features collapsible structures that are designed to simulate various kinds of disasters and wreckage and provides complex interactive disaster scenarios that serve as training facilities for emergency responders.

The visit successfully fulfilled designated goals and accomplished visiting mission as planned. The experience can be a very valuable inspiration for the development of fire and rescue training of our country.
